Traditional PBX Systems

Traditional PBX systems are used by organizations in order to reduce the huge number of telephone lines they would require from a telephone company. A company or organization would need to have a single line for each employee, without the help of a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) system. There are analog based PBX systems and software based PBX systems. Recently, VoIP is also added to these PBX systems to reap the benefits of the VoIP telephony.

In a traditional PBX system, each and every telephone is connected to the PBX. When an employee picks up the phone and calls a number with an access code, the system connects that employee to the line outside. Traditional PBX systems were deployed by businesses initially in order to save costs on internal calls and local phone service. Once they gained popularity, these systems offered advanced services such as call forwarding, hunt groups and extension dialing. Then there was the Centrex that offered the features of a central telephone exchange.

Features of PBX Systems

PBX systems these days come with auto attendants, voicemail, ring groups and dial-by-name directory etc. Some big businesses still use traditional PBX systems.

VoIP Enabled PBX Systems

The PBX systems can be integrated with VoIP to have the advanced features of the voice over internet protocol. The current IP PBX systems can do its operations virtually or exist as a physical hardware. They perform the traditional call routing activities of the PBX as a software component. Soft PBX is another name of the virtual PBX.

There are telecom equipment providers who offer VoIP solutions without the risks of complex implementation and deployment procedures. You may not need to do any substantial infrastructure overhaul since the switches will work with existing routers and PBX configurations. These systems are easy to use with the features of best of the both the traditional and modern worlds. With these systems you can add your telephones or cell phones anywhere as extensions. Your tele and mobile workers can be connected through the system.
